The flag of the former region of Poitou-Charentes in France was modeled on an historical coat of arms. It showed two horizontal stripes in white and black and a red lion in the middle and is reminiscent of the old coat of arms of Poitou from the time of the Plantagenets. The region was dissolved in 2016.
