The flag of Corsica, has ist roots probably in the 15th century. It is solid white and shows a Moor's head in the middle. This peculiar symbol is known in Aragon, Corsica and Sardinia. It probably goes back to the Kingdom of Aragon, where this symbolism has been used since 1096, and in 1297 the Pope gave Sardinia as a fief to King James II. of Aragon. The flag is still of great regional importance to this day.
