This flag is a flag, that shows the image of the coat of arms of the Vendée department, a silvery shield with a red "Sacré-Coeur" inside, surrounded by a border of 12 blue and red parts, inside alternating a golden lily (on blue) and a golden castle (on red ). The "Sacré-Coeur" was the symbol of the insurgents who opposed the French Revolution from 1793 to 1800. The suppression of this uprising and the mass executions that followed cost the lives of around 200.000 people in the Vendée.
