Soviet Union, state and merchant flag, 1924-1955, size: 150 x 90 cm

The flag of the Soviet Union, which was used until 1991, the year of the end of this state, was designed in November 1923 and was first hoisted on 31st of January in 1924. It showed a single-colored red bunting and in the upper corner crossed hammer and sickle under a red, yellow bordered star.
