In 1815 the King of Saxony introduced the colors white and green as the state colors for Saxony. Almost all of the Ernestine duchies in Thuringia adopted this rule. Between 1817 and 1830, the combination of white and green (albeit in reverse order of green and white) became the state colors of the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg-Gotha. Green and white was also used - albeit unofficially - in the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen until 1918, and until 1895 in the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg.
