In the Kingdom of Saxony, the king had his own flag, too, better called standard. At the end of the 19th century it became the model for some rulers from the House of Wettin (Ernestiner) in Thuringia. The colors of Saxony, regardless of whether they were Ascanians or Wettins (Ernestines and Albertines), have always been black and gold. You can see that very nicely on this escutcheon flag (flag with the image of the coat of arms).
