The Brunswick (Braunschweig) flag was actually always a striped flag with two horizontal stripes of equal width, most recently in blue and yellow. So the flag could be used by everyone. In the Duchy of Brunswick (to 1918), heraldic representations were only common on the official flags. Their use was reserved for offices and authorities. They showed - at least from 1912 - the Saxon Steed of the Guelphs. This version is a purely private draft. It shows the colors with the Brunswick Lion.
