Free City of Bremen, flag in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, size: 150 x 90 cm

The process of creating of a territorial flag was completed quite early in Bremen because the city is situated on the coast. This is an escutcheon flag, the bunting shows the image of the coat of arms of the city, a practice that was common.
