- Order number: pf549
The Order of Montjoie was founded in 1172. A short time later he was deployed to the Kingdom of Jerusalem in the fortress of Ascalon. In the Battle of Hattin, the Order was almost wiped out in 1187, the survivors went back to Trufac in Aragón. Here the Order was committed to the fight against the Arabs who invaded the Iberian Peninsula, until 1196. In that year, most of the knights joined the Knights Templar, the rest joined the Order of Calatrava in 1221. The flag is based on the symbol of the Order, a Maltese cross splited in white and red.
