Habsburg, flag of the emperor, 1806-1836, size: 150 x 90 cm

This was the personal flag of the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation, which existed until 1806. The empire was an elective monarchy, so the emperor's dignity was not hereditary. Nevertheless, the House of Habsburg provided the German Emperor for centuries. The heraldry of the German Empire and also the colors black and gold were transferred to the House of Habsburg and the Empire of Austria.
